What is Trex?
Trex is a leading manufacturer of composite decking materials. These materials are a combination of 95% recycled materials that can include but are not limited to reclaimed timber, sawdust, used plastic overwrap from packages, dry cleaner bags, and shopping and grocery bags, providing a durable, low-maintenance alternative to traditional wood decking. Trex offers a variety of colors and styles, making it a popular choice for homeowners looking to enhance their outdoor living space.
Types of Trex Decking
At Northwest Decks, we offer a wide range of Trex decking options to fit your specific needs and style. These include:
Trex Enhance
If you’re looking for an affordable option without compromising on quality, Trex Enhance is the way to go. It offers exceptional resistance to fading, staining, and mold, making it a practical choice for any deck. Enhance is the entry-level option, is just under 1 inch thick, and comes with a 25-year stain and fade warranty.
Trex Select
The Select is the mid-grade tier that is slightly thinner than the Enhance but it comes in more colors and tones and comes with a 35-year stain and fade warranty. This mid-grade level decking line offers the same high-quality materials and low-maintenance benefits as other Trex products but at a more budget-friendly price point.
Trex Transcend
This premium decking line offers unmatched durability and luxury. It is available in multiple colors and finishes, making it the perfect choice for any aesthetic. Trex Transcend is the same thickness as the Enhance but the durability is much greater. The color options are even more substantial than the Select and they have a 50-year stain and fade warranty.

Trex Patio Gig Harbor
Patio is a Spanish word that translates to “courtyard” in English. It refers to an outdoor space that is used for dining, entertaining, or recreational activities. Historically, patios were often found in the backyards of Spanish-style homes and were used as a central gathering place for families and friends. Nowadays, patios have become popular in homes all over the world due to their versatility and functionality.
The difference between a deck and a patio is pretty simple, one is lifted up off the ground and the other sits on the ground. A patio will often have enclosures, coverings, or built-in fireplaces but, they both fill the same basic function of getting to have a beautiful entertaining space that will make all of your neighbors want to keep up with you.
Benefits of Having a Patio
Having a patio can greatly enhance your outdoor living experience. Here are some benefits of having a patio:
- Versatility: Patios are highly versatile spaces that can be used for various purposes. You can use it as a dining area, outdoor kitchen, or even a relaxation spot.
- Increase in Property Value: A well-designed and maintained patio can significantly increase the value of your property. If you ever decide to sell your home, having a patio can be an attractive selling point for potential buyers.
- Low Maintenance: Patios are relatively low maintenance compared to other outdoor spaces. As they are made from durable materials, they require minimal upkeep and can withstand various weather conditions.
- Customization Options: With a patio, you have the freedom to design it according to your preferences and needs. You can choose the type of material, and layout, and even add features such as a fire pit or built-in seating.
